One of the most beautiful pictures to me is the spring rain shower that happens on a sunny day. There is something almost enchanting as the atmosphere seems to be reciting a poem as two worlds collide. Rain and Sunshine. Each drop glistens as what we equate with dreariness and gray clouds now provides new meaning. This was the picture that I had in my head as I wrote the song “Spring”. I closed my eyes and thought about how this natural occurrence may be a way that God smiles at us as we go through life.
The Journey to Spring....is an epic one. Looking down at my hands, I think about all of the things they have touched , held, pushed away, pull along, played with, and strained against. History has been written with our hands, and while, many of us might not find a textbook or literary work notating the details, our present lives tell our future the stories of our past. So, if our lives are like seasons, then Winter comes before Spring. I've heard it said that Spring equals childhood, Summer equals youth and young adult, Fall equals adulthood, and Winter equals old age. I tend to think of these things differently. What if the seasons of life are not just one cycle? Summer would b the joyful times when all is carefree and spontaneous with laughter and relationships. Fall would be the times of reflecting on beauty and peace and quiet and meaningful moments. Winter would be the cold, damp, dreary, hibernation of the soul. Spring would represent new; new beginnings, new chapters, new roads. Often, Spring follows after Winter in our lives. Those times led by fears, weariness, loneliness, and like emotions have the promise of something new coming around the corner. This is how God desires to work. He promises, not to do away with winter altogether, bu to bring Spring. And I love to see what He has to bring when He brings Spring. Spring means that I have labored with can now be birthed and raised to be something that will glorify God. It means new opportunities to step out of the boat and walk on water. It means rain and sunshine marrying. So, when you face Winter...realize that Spring is what is promised next.
